There are several variables that our algorithms use to define the cost. These are:
- The distance traveled together, and the destination. The traveled distance fee takes into account the fees related to the vehicle while the destination fee takes into account the parking costs (this applies to carpooling). The parking fee will vary depending on the destination.
- The type of driver (carpooling driver or taxi driver)
- The type of vehicle and all admissible costs: gas, insurance, amortization, registration, maintenance, etc.
Since the cost by kilometer varies between different vehicles, Netlift harmonize those differences into a single average, in order to offer the same costs for everyone.
When it comes to carpooling, Netlift complies with local laws in effect in Québec. The latter states that the amount exchanged between the passenger and driver should only reimburse part of the fees incurred by the ride.
